Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to convene its Executive Committee this Friday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. They’re meeting to ramp up planning for the 2027 AFCON and to go over some major rule changes for African football.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe will chair the meeting, which brings together members of the Executive Committee to review a range of important issues. A press conference is also scheduled to follow the session at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam, with live coverage planned on CAF TV.

A central focus of the discussions will be preparations for the next AFCON taking place in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in 2027. This meeting is a huge step toward getting everything ready for the tournament. The goal is to show off some major upgrades in how the games are run and the quality of the stadiums across East Africa.

On top of the tournament prep, the committee is also diving into CAF’s rulebook, specifically the disciplinary code and how the organization is run. This review comes after the chaos at the 2025 AFCON final in Morocco, which sparked a major push for tougher penalties to protect the reputation of African football.

Motsepe has been pushing hard to level up the way games are called, making sure referees and VAR operators are as sharp and unbiased as possible. This rule review is a huge part of his plan to raise the bar and make sure African football gets the respect it deserves on the global stage.
