Rabat – Local authorities in  Sidi Kacem Province have announced the launch of the second phase of a gradual return plan for residents evacuated after exceptional weather disturbances that recently struck the region.

In a statement issued by the provincial authorities, officials confirmed that the operation begins Monday and forms part of a structured program designed to secure a safe and organized return for affected families.

The measures aim to ensure safe transport and prevent further risk in areas where infrastructure suffered damage due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

    Villages concerned

In the commune of Khnichat, the return concerns residents from several douars, including:

Briouiga, Chaouia, El Fkih, Oulad Khriss, Oulad Bel Hcine, Oulad Bouazza Touil, Oulad Sellam, Chkirbat, Sendiq, El Habata, Oulad Berhil, Oulea Bouazza Chbirat, Oulad Abdelouahed, Akmihate, Khnichat North, and Oulad Daoud.

In Toughilt, authorities authorized the return of residents from Oulad Allali, Beni Jmil, Houafad, and Oulad Lkhadir.

In the commune of Nouirate, the measure applies to Douar El Hitoum, Beni Aziz, and Oulad Riyahi.

A large number of douars in El Haouafate are included in this phase.

These include El Haj Hdi, Mharik, Qariat Mharik, Ouled Jaber, Ouled Hlima, Chrinat, Ouled Amrane, Ouled Khtib, El Khort El Jezzar, Derqaoua El Aroussiyine, Sabbana, Jbabra, Adridiyine, El Qaria El Ratbia, El Haouafate Centre, Ouled Boussaid, El Qsibia, Oud Bouzekri, Ouled Addou, Ouled Bouayad, Rtaba, Ouled Youssef et Hjaoua, and cooperatives El Aroussia, El Ghania, Dghoughia.

The second phase also covers Douar Ait Daoud El Oued in the commune of Tekna.

In Bir Taleb, residents of Douar Chmoucha, Oulad Messlem, and Oulad Frej may now return.

The operation further concerns Douar Oulad Jellal in Sidi El Kamel, Laassakria in Rmilat, Douar Oulad Chalh in Sidi Azzouz, and Allak El Jouta in Sefsaf.

Gradual return based on field indicators

Authorities stressed that additional areas and subsequent phases will be announced in later statements, depending on field assessments and the readiness of roads and basic infrastructure.

Officials urged residents whose areas were not listed in the statement to exercise caution and refrain from attempting to return until formal authorization is issued.

The province continues to monitor conditions closely to prevent further risk as recovery efforts advance.

The recent weather disturbances caused significant disruption in rural parts of Sidi Kacem Province, where seasonal rivers overflowed and access roads sustained damage. The phased return plan seeks to restore normal life while safeguarding residents from lingering hazards.
