Rabat – Moroccan police in the northern city of Asilah arrested a 41-year-old Albanian man on Thursday. The suspect was wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities.

According to police sources, officers identified the man after checking his information in the Interpol database. The search showed that Sweden had issued a Red Notice for him, as he is suspected of involvement in a drug trafficking case.

Following his arrest, the suspect was placed in police custody as part of extradition procedures, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Morocco’s National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat has notified its counterpart in Sweden of the arrest.

The operation reflects Morocco’s strong cooperation with international security partners in the fight against cross-border crime.

Moroccan authorities regularly work with Interpol to track down fugitives wanted worldwide.

This commitment was also highlighted during Interpol’s 93rd General Assembly held recently in Marrakech, where member countries discussed strengthening global police cooperation, improving information-sharing systems, and supporting joint efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking.
