Rabat – The ministerial-level council of the League of Arab States renewed appreciation for the effects of the Al Quds Committee under King Mohammed VI chairmanship.

The council on Sunday commended the role of the committee in safeguarding Jerusalem and its identity, affirming that member states are aware of the importance of its efforts as well as the Agency Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif, which serves as its executive arm.

The council’s statement came in response to the Israeli closure of the Al Aqsa mosque, undermining freedom of worship and access to the site.

The council also renewed support for the sovereignty of Palestine over East Jerusalem as the capital of the country.

Morocco has consistently renewed support for the Palestinian cause.

Earlier this week, Morocco’s Foreign Affairs minister Nasser Bourita reiterated the country’s position in the eight joint ministerial meeting between Morocco and the GCC.

Bourita said that a just and lasting solution remains essential for peace and stability in the region. He recalled King Mohammed VI’s consistent appeals for renewed international and regional efforts to reach a two-state solution that would allow Palestinians to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Morocco’s support also goes through King Mohammed VI’s role as the chairman of the Al Quds committee.

The Bayt Mal al Quds  agency launched projects worth $6.5 million during the period from October 7,2023 to June 30, 2025, contributing to efforts and initiatives benefiting locals.

Mohamd Salem Cherkaoui, director of the agency recalled Morocco’s contribution to the agency’s efforts i n favor of Palestinians, including during the genocidal war.

Jamal Choubaki, the Palestinian ambassador to Morocco also concisely commend Morocco’s role in the agency under King Mohammed VI.

The effort has helped empower communities in Al Quds and supported socio-economic development initiatives.

A financial agreement between the Moroccan Association for Support to Reconstruction in Palestine and the Bayt Mal Al Quds also contributed to the 2025-2026 social and economic season in Jerusalem. The financing agreement is worth $600,000.

The Moroccan association stressed that the deal is part of Morocco’s support for the Palestinian cause and to strengthen the resilience on the ground.

It covers income generating projects for vulnerable groups, olive harvest support for farmers, distribution of food in Gaza, an education project for children and the installation of a camp for displaced people  in addition to interventions to fight diseases in shelters.
