Paige Bueckers Surpasses Caitlin Clark to Make WNBA History on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings find themselves sitting at 8-24 on the 2025 WNBA season after Saturday’s 91-78 loss to the Washington Mystics, their fifth-straight loss.

Still, Bueckers continued her Rookie of the Year caliber season, notching a team-high 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting, three rebounds and three assists in her first game back from injury.

And, the former UConn Huskies guard was able to enter her name in the record books, passing Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

Going into Saturday’s loss, Bueckers had tallied 446 points, 98 rebounds and 130 assists. With 4:06 remaining in the first quarter, Bueckers hit a 27-foot 3-pointer to increase Dallas’ lead to five.

This marked her fourth point of the game and 450th of her young career. She also secured her 100th rebound of the year in the second quarter.

In doing so, Bueckers now passes Clark to become the fastest rookie in WNBA history to achieve 450 or more points, 100 or more rebounds and 100 or more assists, doing so in 25 games.

    Caitlin Clark’s Previous Rookie Record

During Clark’s rookie season in 2024, she was able to achieve these numbers in 27 games, finishing the year with 983 points, 292 rebounds and 452 assists. Bueckers also achieved this while being much more efficient from the floor, shooting 46.0% compared to Clark’s 40.5% in 2024.
This rookie record excludes players who joined the WNBA during the inaugural season in 1997. If players from that year were included, Houston Comets legend Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, who played professionally before the WNBA, would hold the record, reaching these numbers in just 23 games.
