Rabat – AS FAR Rabat earned a convincing 2-1 win over Wydad Casablanca in a heated El Clasico clash played at Mohammed V Stadium.

The match opened with an own goal in the 19th minute, when Wydad midfielder Sabber deflected a corner into his own net. From that moment, AS FAR took control.

Hakim Ziyech scored the equalizer for Wydad with a powerful long-range strike from outside the box, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The first half ended with AS FAR dominating possession and chances.

After the break, the Rabat side continued to press. Their second goal came from a smooth tiki-taka sequence, finished by Youssef El Fahli after a clever assist from Hadraf.

Wydad’s hopes faded further when their best player, Ziyech, was forced off injured in the 58th minute, replaced by Mohamed Bouchaouari.

Statistically, AS FAR had the upper hand: 60% possession, 8 total shots, and 5 on target. Wydad managed only 4 shots, with 2 on target, and struggled to create clear chances.

They pushed late in the game after the referee added 8 minutes of stoppage time, but couldn’t break through.

The win lifts AS FAR to third place in the Botola standings with 25 points from 11 matches. Wydad remain stuck on 26 points, missing a chance to overtake Raja, who lead with 27 points from 14 games.

Both AS FAR and Wydad still have three games in hand, setting up a tense title race.

Next up, Wydad travel to Rabat to face Union Touarga Sport on Sunday at Al Madina Stadium.

AS FAR will head to Zemamra to play Renaissance Club Zemamra at Ahmed Choukri Stadium on sunday.
