Morocco’s Manufacturing Producer Prices Rise 0.3% in January

Rabat – Morocco’s manufacturing sector outside petroleum refining saw a small rise in producer prices in January 2026, climbing 0.3% from the previous month, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

The increase shows growing costs in key industries. Food production and machinery manufacturing led the rise with a 1.3% jump.

Metal products and non-metallic minerals grew by 0.5%, clothing by 0.4%, furniture by 0.8%, and textiles by 0.1%. In contrast, metallurgy recorded a slight decline of 0.2%.

Prices in extractive industries, electricity, and water supply remained stable, signaling calm in essential services.

These figures might be an early indicator of price movements in Morocco’s industrial sector, showing areas where production costs exert pressure and sectors that remain steady.

The rise in producer prices stems from a combination of higher costs in consumer-related and industrial sectors.

Though the overall increase is modest, some businesses may feel pressure on profit margins, especially those reliant on imported raw materials.

For consumers, this shift may gradually translate into higher retail prices, particularly in food products and household items, though experts do not anticipate sudden inflationary spikes.

The HCP report also shows that prices in extractive industries, electricity, and water distribution remained unchanged.

This stability provides a buffer for households and industries alike, maintaining predictable costs for essential utilities despite fluctuations in manufacturing.
