Rabat—The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has, once again, denied reports claiming a new head coach has been appointed for the Morocco national team, reaffirming that Walid Regragui remains in charge of the Atlas Lions.
In its official press release, the federation denied all claims and reiterated that any decision regarding the national team’s coaching position will be formally communicated through official channels: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation denies the circulating news regarding the appointment of a new coach for the national team and affirms that it will inform the public—just as it has done previously—of all developments related to the national team at the appropriate time.”
This latest statement came a few minutes after announcements circulated about Mohamed Ouahbi being appointed as the team’s new coach.

This is the third time in recent weeks that the FRMF has publicly rejected reports linking a new coach to the senior national team. The previous denials were issued on February 6 and February 24, when the federation specifically dismissed claims about Walid Regragui stepping down as head coach.
Ouahbi’s name became the center of the coaching conversation for one simple reason: he wins. His 2025 was a year for the history books, leading Morocco to its first-ever U20 World Cup trophy, defeating Argentina 2–0 in the final, and recording historic wins over Brazil, Spain, France during that tournament.
For now, despite the latest media buzz, the federation’s latest statement silences the speculation and reaffirms its official position that no coaching change has been confirmed, maintaining public backing for Regragui as preparations continue for upcoming international fixtures, including two friendlies scheduled in March.
The FRMF is adamant of the fact that any official appointment or leadership change will only be announced through its formal communications.
