Rabat– AEGEAN Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct flight connecting Casablanca and Athens, set to begin on October 25, 2026.
The move is part of the Greek carrier’s broader strategy to expand its international network and strengthen its presence in promising North African and European markets.
The new route will provide a direct link between Morocco and Greece, offering travelers more flexible and diverse options. Passengers will also gain access to AEGEAN’s extensive network of global destinations through its main hub in Athens, facilitating seamless connections across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
The direct link could give a significant boost to tourism and economic exchange between the two countries. The growing interest of Moroccan travelers in European destinations, coupled with Greek investors’ efforts to enhance commercial ties with Morocco, positions this route as a key enabler for business and leisure travel.
The launch showcases a broader trend among airlines to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the international travel market while improving passenger experience. By connecting Casablanca and Athens, AEGEAN aims to make travel between North Africa and Europe more accessible, convenient, and efficient.
The new route highlights the strengthening of Morocco–Greece ties, not only through tourism but also in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, further cementing the two countries’ growing cooperation in multiple sectors.
Direct and connecting flights from Casablanca (CMN) and Marrakech (RAK) to Athens (ATH) typically take between four and six hours on average. Flight durations can vary depending on the airline and route, with some itineraries requiring longer travel times due to layovers or connections.
