Hakimi Equals Moroccan Champions League Scoring Record

Rabat – Achraf Hakimi has reached 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League, joining Youssef En-Nesyri and Hakim Ziyech as Morocco’s joint top scorers in the competition.

His latest strike came on February 17 in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-2 comeback win against Monaco in the first leg of their playoff tie. PSG fell behind 2-0 early, but turned the game around before halftime. Substitute Désiré Doué helped shift the momentum, and Hakimi’s goal made it 2-2, setting up the victory.

Hakimi’s record is notable because he plays as a right-back, not a forward. Goals are not expected from defenders, yet Hakimi has built his game around attacking runs and sharp timing.

He often pushes forward like a winger, arriving late into space or attacking the far post. This style has made him one of the most effective attacking full-backs of his generation.

Morocco’s influence in the Champions League continues to grow. Youssef En-Nesyri has made his mark as a striker with decisive finishing when he was playing at Sevilla and Fenerbahçe, while Hakim Ziyech built his reputation through key moments and quality from wide areas when he was playing at Chelsea and Ajax.

Achraf Hakimi joining them shows how Moroccan players now shine in different roles across the pitch.

Paris Saint-Germain will carry a one-goal lead into the second leg against Monaco in Paris on February 25. The tie remains open, and the pressure will be high as both teams fight for a place in the next round.

Achraf Hakimi also stands out as the most successful Moroccan in Champions League history. He has won the trophy twice, first with Real Madrid in 2018 and then with Paris Saint-Germain in 2025.

This puts him ahead of Hakim Ziyech, who lifted the title once with Chelsea in 2021, and Brahim Díaz, who won it with Real Madrid in 2024. Hakimi’s double triumph makes him the only Moroccan player to claim the Champions League twice.
