Rabat – At least 54 Palestinians in the West Bank were injured on Friday morning as reports of settler violence continue to rise.
According to Al Jazeera, settlers attacked Palestinian farmers near Talfit in the occupied West Bank, while Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas and live ammunition at residents who attempted to stop the settlers.
The attacks come after the Israeli government passed legislation that bulldozes the pre-existing legal framework, which has prevented annexation for decades.
“If these decisions are implemented, they will undoubtedly accelerate the dispossession of Palestinians and their forcible transfer, and lead to the creation of more illegal Israeli settlements,” UN human rights chief Volker Turk said in a statement on Wednesday.
This intensification of settler violence is not an isolated phenomenon. UN figures report that at least 1,054 Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank by Israeli occupation forces and settlers between October 7, 2023, and February 5, 2026.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians have also been forcibly displaced from their homes in the occupied West Bank by Israel in what Human Rights Watch categorizes as war crimes and a crime against humanity.
The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) posted footage of its compound in occupied East Jerusalem on X Friday, writing: “Seized and demolished by the Israeli authorities, in an unprecedented violation of international law.”
According to UNRWA, Israel cut water and electricity to their East Jerusalem facilities, including schools and health centers.
The post continues: “Meanwhile, new measures will further tighten Israeli control over the occupied #WestBank. They must be withdrawn.”
