Rabat – The UAE has expressed solidarity and condolences to Morocco following the floods that swept through several regions due to heavy rainfall.

The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its “sincere condolences,” extending sympathy to the families of the victims and the Moroccan government.

It also extended recovery wishes to all people injured.

Last week, authorities announced that four people died while a fifth remains missing after floods that swept through the Lamouawja village in Bni Harchen, Bel Lahbib.

The victims were traveling in a car when a surge from the Rmilat river overwhelmed the vehicle.

Local officials described the flood as sudden and powerful.

Morocco evacuated over 150,0000 in flood-prone areas due to heavy rainfall as part of efforts to tackle the crisis and mitigate repercussions.

In addition to the UAE, the British embassy in Rabat has also extended solidarity with all those affected by the recent floods in Morocco.

“The resilience and mutual support shown by communities has been inspiring to see,” the embassy said.

The US embassy echoed similar remarks, saying that it stands in solidarity with all Moroccans affected by flooding in the north.

It also expressed support for the emergency responders working to save and protect lives.
