Marrakech – Casablanca has officially been admitted to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, cementing the city’s commitment to lifelong learning and promoting knowledge as a resource for all citizens.

“Through this membership, the metropolis joins an international network of cities implementing innovative public policies in education, training, culture, social inclusion, and employment,” stated a press release from the Casablanca Municipality.

Morocco’s economic capital plans to leverage this recognition to strengthen programs in non-formal education, vocational training, youth and women’s empowerment, support for vulnerable communities, as well as the promotion of culture and digital literacy across neighborhoods, the statement added.

“The integration of Casablanca into the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities is a major milestone for our city,” said Nabila Rmili, President of the Casablanca Municipal Council.

She emphasized that this recognition reinforces the city’s determination to make education and knowledge a central driver of human development, social cohesion, and territorial attractiveness.

Membership also opens new opportunities for international cooperation and the exchange of best practices with cities worldwide.

Casablanca will be able to share its experiences, benefit from global initiatives, and participate in joint projects aimed at improving access to education, developing skills, and supporting the transition toward a knowledge- and innovation-driven economy.

The Municipality of Casablanca expressed its gratitude to UNESCO for the vote of confidence and reaffirmed its commitment to working with institutional, educational, associative, and economic partners to realize the ambition of an inclusive, forward-looking, and resilient “learning city.”
