8 Best Hammams in Fes in 2025 + Amazing Local Tips

If there’s one thing you have to do in this amazing city, it’s visit one of the best hammams in Fes.

As someone who has been living in Morocco since January of 2023, and who has been to Fes many times, I’ve visited tons of epic hammams in this city.

Honestly, it’s a great place to go to the hammam since the experience is authentic, the service is great, and the price is usually cheaper than in Marrakech.

So, regardless of whether you’re looking for an authentic local experience or a luxurious spa-like retreat, Fes has a hammam to suit your style and budget.

But first—what is a Moroccan hammam? A hammam is a traditional Moroccan bathhouse where people go to cleanse, relax, and rejuvenate.

The experience involves steaming, scrubbing, and soaking in hot and cold water, leaving your skin incredibly soft and looking extra shiny.

Trust me, you do not want to miss out on a trip to the hammam since hammams have been a cornerstone of Moroccan culture for centuries, serving as both a cleansing ritual and a social tradition.

In general, there are two main types of hammams in Fes: public hammams and private hammams. Public hammams are where locals go for their weekly cleansing.

They’re simple, affordable, and offer a truly authentic Moroccan experience. You’ll typically bring your own soap, scrub (kessa), and towel, and the atmosphere is communal, with separate sections for men and women.

Private hammams, on the other hand, are found in upscale riads and spas. They offer a more luxurious, intimate experience with professional attendants who do all the scrubbing for you—perfect if you’re looking for a bit of pampering.

No matter which type of hammam you choose, it’s an experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and connected to Moroccan culture.

In this guide, I’ll share my picks for the best hammams in Fes—both public and private—so you can find the perfect option for your next visit to this amazing city.

Please Note: Riad Haj Palace no longer offers public hammam services as of March 2025. I stopped by and they said it was closed. However, if this changes please let me know!!

1. Hammam Mernissi and Spa

There are a couple of things I like about this hammam in Fes. It is well-located near the blue gate (Bab Boujloud) and visitors have the option to visit either a public or a private hammam.

So, if you want a more authentic experience, go with their basic public hammam package for 250 Dirhams. You’ll get black soap, a kessa (scrubbing glove), shampoo, and a clay mask for the face.

There will also be staff on hand to walk you through the process and show you what to do if you’ve never been to a hammam before.

However, if you want a bit more of a private experience, then opt for their Hammam Beldi Package.

It lasts 45 minutes, costs 350 Dirhams, and includes black soap, scrubbing with a kessa, a clay mask for the face, shampoo, sea salt/Ghassoul mask for the body, and shower gel.

Overall, this is a nice place to go for an authentic hammam experience, especially since the steam room is between 27°C and 37°C. Yeah, no need to worry about a chilly hammam here.

The staff are also friendly, but I do think the price is a bit steep considering this isn’t a super luxurious hammam.

If it were me, I would probably go to Riad Laaroussa instead since they have an ultra-luxe hammam where packages start at 350 Dirhams. It’s basically the same price but just way more luxurious.

Local Tip: If you’re deciding between Fes and Marrakech, you’ll be delighted to know that hammams in Fes are generally cheaper than the ones in Marrakech.

2. Yuba Cyn Spa

This super sleek, modern health club and day spa is located right near the train station. So, it’s a bit far from the Medina and you’ll probably need to use a taxi to get here.

However, this modern spa is well-appointed with all the amenities you’ll need for an exceptional hammam experience (FYI, I have also heard really good things about their massages).

The benefit of coming here is that they have a ton of treatments to choose from. So, if you can imagine it then this spa probably has it.

Now, if you have your heart set on a hammam experience, then you have five options to choose from.

Options start at a basic hammam package for 300 Dirhams (the experience lasts 30 minutes) and go all the way up to a 1200 Dirham package that includes a facial, pedicure, manicure, hammam experience, and a massage.

Basically, go here if you want to visit a high-end spa with a wide range of services available. I think this spa offers you the most bang for your buck if you book one of their premium packages.

Otherwise, just stick with one of the hammams in the Medina. Their basic package is about the same price as what you’ll find in the Medina, and you won’t have to spend money on a taxi to get there.

3. Hammam at Riad Laaroussa

I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about my experience at Riad Laaroussa. I walked in without a reservation and the staff kindly sat down with me and went over the various packages that they offer.

I would try and make a reservation though since they were fully booked when I stopped by. Anyway, they don’t have a ton of packages to choose from and really just have a hammam package and a massage package.

Obviously, I went for the hammam package, which lasted 45 minutes and cost 350 Dirhams. The staff were really kind and brought me to a changing room.

I left all my belongings in a locker (with a key and lock) and changed into a bathrobe, slippers, and disposable underwear before entering an ancient steam room from the 17th century.

I sat on a marble bench for 5 minutes, was washed with warm water, received a eucalyptus body scrub, and a facial mask with Ghassoul.

It was really rejuvenating and I even got water and dried fruit to rehydrate after my visit. I also got complimenrary mint tea that I could enjoy on the rooftop.

Overall, I had a really good time and would absolutely recommend this hammam to anyone who finds themselves in Fes.

I think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Fes if you are planning a one-day itinerary in Fes and also want to stop by one of the best riads in Fes.

4. Riad Fes Maya Spa

If you’re looking for a luxurious experience that takes you away from the chaos of the Medina, then try visiting Riad Fes Maya.

Home to a hammam and restaurant in Fes that are both open to the public, their newly renovated hammam is a great place to go if you’re looking for a relaxing, hour-long treatment.

Choose between a Hamman and Gommage experience or a Hammam, Gommage, and Rassol (Clay) experience. Both options include a relaxing visit to the steam room before exfoliation with black eucalyptus and olive oil soap.

After enjoying a deep scrub with an exfoliating glove, you’ll get your hair washed and relax with a natural soap rub. Plus, if you opt for the treatment with clay, you’ll also get your body covered in clay to remove any remaining toxins.

Overall, the staff are great and everyone speaks English. So, this is another solid choice if you are looking for the best hammam in Fes after doing a cool desert tour from Fes to Marrakech.

5. Les Bains Amani

Located inside a beautiful upscale riad in the Medina, Les Bains Amani is a luxurious hammam that is known for its high-end products, exquisite service, and impeccable treatments.

Choose between a Tradtional Hammam Experience and a Royal Hammam Experience, each of which lasts 60 minutes. The traditional hammam service begins with a soothing hand and foot bath, followed by a gentle scrub using natural rose water.

If you want, a nourishing hair mask with white clay ghassoul can be applied to your scalp before you enter the steam room.

Once inside, a black soap treatment will be applied and prepare your skin for an invigorating full-body scrub.

Afterward, enjoy a refreshing homemade lemonade before rinsing off and unwinding in the property’s enchanting relaxation room.

If it were me, I would book the Royal Hammam “Happy Hour”.

It’s basically the same as the Tradtional Hammam Experience (the price is €52.00 and the Tradtional Hammam is €49.00) except your treatment is 75 minutes long and you get a full body wrap too.

The price is just discounted because you have to book the treatment before 2:00 pm. But, I think it’s worth it since the treatment also includes soothing candles lit all around you.

This place is one of the many reasons why you need to visit Fes now!

6. Hammam Arraje

Last but certainly not least is Hammam Arraje. This public hammam in Fes is about a 20-minute drive from the Medina and is a great place to visit if you are on a budget and are looking for a truly authentic experience.

Sure, this place isn’t fancy and yes, you will have to bring your own soap and kessa (exfoliating cloth). However, admission costs just 150 Dirhams and you can even add on a tonic scrub/massage for an extra 60 Dirhams.

Overall, the service is good, the facility is clean, and the staff are lovely. So, I would stop by if you want to go where the locals go while in Fes. This place/area is also safe since most of Fes is safe.

7. Leelah Spa and Hammam

Leelah Hammam & Spa is one of those places in Fes that immediately makes you slow down. After the sensory overload of the medina, Leelah feels like an oasis of tranquility.

The décor is stunning and includes soft lighting, carved plaster, traditional zellige tiles, and calm, earthy tones that feel luxurious without being over-the-top. It’s beautifully designed, but still reflects the spirit of traditional Moroccan style.

Now, sure the decor is great. But, the services are where Leelah really shines. Their traditional hammam is the star of the show, with a full scrub that leaves your skin feeling smooth like a baby’s bottom.

Trust me, I mean that in the best way possible. It’s thorough, professional, and done at a pace that feels relaxing rather than rushed.

You can also add on a ghassoul clay mask, argan oil treatments, or a massage. FYI, I would 100% go with the massage since they are pretty dang relaxing.

The therapists are also attentive and experienced and help make everything feel thoughtfully curated from start to finish.

All in all, this is a spot I keep coming back to because it feels authentic and not overly touristy. It also has a refined feeling to it, but is still incredibly comfortable. So, go on, treat yourself and head to Leelah Spa and Hammam now.

8. Royal Medina Spa

After wandering around the narrow, busy streets of the Medina, stepping inside Royal Medina Spa feels calm, elegant, and next-level relaxing.

The décor is beautiful without being over-the-top and includes traditional zellige tiles, warm lighting, and carved details. I also love the overall layout since it feels designed for maximum comfort and privacy.

The services are excellent, especially the traditional Moroccan hammam. The scrub is thorough and leaves your skin feeling unbelievably smooth, with the entire experience feeling unrushed and professional.

Feel free to add on a ghassoul clay mask, argan oil treatments, or a massage. I promise, the additional add-ons are 110% worth it. I also like that the massages are strong but relaxing.

Yeah, the therapists really know what they’re doing and always make sure you feel comfortable. That’s why everything flows smoothly from start to finish, allowing you to completely disconnect and unwind.

Overall, I’ve tried quite a few different hammams in Fes, and this is one I’d happily return to. I can also confidently recommend this spot to anyone visiting the city.

Each hammam offers something unique, from the lively and authentic atmosphere of public spas to the serene, high-end treatments found in private hammams.

But if you’re looking for the ultimate hammam experience in Fes and to have the best time in Fes, Riad Laaroussa stands out above the rest.

Set in a beautifully restored 17th-century riad, their hammam blends tradition with luxury, offering expert treatments in an intimate and tranquil setting. So, if I could only go to one hammam in Fes, it would be Riad Laaroussa.
